On Thursday, August 21, Speaker Thissen was honored to be named a Legislator of Distinction by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities. The award is given to legislators who have worked to support the specific needs of Greater Minnesota, particularly those advocated for by the CGMC.
Speaker Thissen has been a strong advocate for Greater Minnesota since being elected Speaker in 2013. During the 2014 session, he helped to promote a strong rural economic agenda and was crucial to expanding broadband access to communities that lack high-quality services. These issues in particular have helped to improve the quality of life in Greater Minnesota communities, which is good for the entire state.
The CGMC is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that has worked to inform and educate legislators about issues that are important to Greater Minnesota for over thirty years. Paul is honored to have been able to work with the CGMC to build a stronger Minnesota over the past two years, and looks forward to continuing to work with them in years to come.
